It’s Women’s Equality Day: Here’s How We’re Celebrating Today and Every Day
Women’s Equality Day, which commemorates the adoption of the 19th Amendment which granted women the right to vote, is celebrated each year in August in the U.S. At Zaya Care, empowering women is at the core of everything that we do.
This year to celebrate, we’re highlighting some of the talented female leaders at our company by sharing their insights and advice.
What do you see as the single most important factor to Zaya Care’s success?
“You’re only as strong as your team! Finding the best of the best and building a highly functional team is an ongoing challenge that is worth every effort.”
— Leoni Runge, Founder and CEO
What is one of the greatest lessons you’ve learned and why?
“For me, every ‘failure’ has been an important opportunity for my personal and professional growth. In fact, the greatest lessons I’ve learned have been from setbacks, not successes. I encourage other women to embrace these moments and to see them as a valuable and essential part of their journey.”
—Sara Seigel, Founding Head of Marketing
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Cynicism isn’t hard. Pessimism isn’t hard. Those are some of the easiest human reactions. Optimism is hard. Being a part of the solution is even harder. I’m optimistic not because I’m naive, but because it’s a hard thing worth doing.”
— Maria Garpestad, Founding Head of Operations
Attitude is everything. It can be easy to get distracted by negativity or pessimism (it’s human nature!) but a positive attitude and proactive mindset is what drives true success. This doesn’t mean being naive, or avoiding difficult conversations, but rather acknowledging the problem so you can focus time and energy on finding the best solution.
Today and everyday, we celebrate the women who have been integral to our success thus far—as well as all of those who have paved the way for progress and are empowering future generations.
